The Eridanus supervoid sits in front of the CMB Cold Spot, but ΛCDM's ISW and Rees-Sciama physics lets the void supply only a small fraction of the observed depression, and lensing rules out any void deep enough to close the budget (Zibin 2014; Mackenzie 2017). The model can neither connect the two improbable objects nor afford the coincidence of their alignment.
Constant Λ fixes the void's imprint at the standard decay rate, and Gaussian initial conditions make void and spot statistically independent objects. The alignment must therefore be luck, the void must be impotent, and the Cold Spot must find a third explanation, all simultaneously, which is three strained positions in defense of one assumption.
SCT connects the void and the spot at their root: both descend from the same patch of cascade geometry. The Cold Spot's primary component is primordial, a region that received less plasma heating during the multi-phase collision sequence (P29, P30); the same energy deficit that left the CMB colder there also seeded less structure along that direction, growing into the supervoid. Void and spot are not cause and effect, and not coincidence; they are two records of one cold corner of the thermalization. The cold-spot-to-supervoid correlation is the registered SCT cross-check, the expected signature rather than an embarrassment.
The M5 component stacks on top: inside the void, Λ_eff runs locally enhanced (P17, P19), so the void's potentials decay faster than the constant-Λ rate and its ISW contribution exceeds the standard calculation, the same enhanced-decay mechanism behind the stacked-void cold bias (recid 98) and the Granett pattern (recid 67). ΛCDM's failed arithmetic assumed the void had to carry the whole depression at the standard rate; in SCT the primordial deficit carries the bulk and the enhanced void imprint supplies the remainder. The thermalization physics is in Paper 3, From Chaos To Concordance Spectra, with the Λ_eff machinery in Paper 7, From Chaos To Cosmic Expansion.
Keystone economy: P29 and P30 write the cold into the sky, P19 amplifies the void's voice. The alignment is the mechanism showing through, twice.
Two exposed legs. If void-CMB cross-correlations from DESI catalogs against Simons Observatory and CMB-S4 maps find the Eridanus-class ISW contribution consistent with the standard ΛCDM decay rate, the M5 enhancement is refuted. And if high-sensitivity polarization maps at the Cold Spot location show no signature distinguishing a primordial temperature deficit from a line-of-sight effect, the registered M2 heating-deficit component loses its discriminating test; a Cold Spot fully explained by ordinary foregrounds or systematics would remove both legs at once.
